Meeting the Moment Series: What’s Ripe at Tangelo Tree?
Hello Tangelo Tree Community,
We hope you all had a restful and relaxing holiday season and are looking forward to starting 2025 with a renewed sense of resilience!
As you’ve read in our last two newsletters, Tangelo Tree Consulting has been thinking hard about how to meet this moment of uncertainty. In our first letter, we talked about the false binary of having to choose between being cautious and taking strategic risks. In the second, we talked about nonprofit partnerships as solidarity within the sector. Today, we’d like to zoom in on how we, at Tangelo Tree, can support the sector.
At Tangelo Tree Consulting, we’re practiced at walking with organizations as we navigate the turbulence of the nonprofit environment. It’s our vantage point as capacity builders working with organizations across the sector and across the country that enables us to call attention to urgent trends and communicate key insights from one part of the sector to another.
In 2025, we’re recommitting to our belief that when nonprofits have the tools and resources they need to succeed, our communities are more connected, more vibrant, and more just. Let’s talk about how we can support your nonprofit in meeting this moment.
Financial Analysis and Planning
We don’t know exactly what the next four years will look like, but we know that all nonprofits are likely to face financial challenges. Now is the time to lay the groundwork for financial sustainability in every organization. At Tangelo Tree, our team is committed to supporting you in the financial prework that it will take to lead to the survival of our communities and the ecosystems in which we all operate. We plan to do this by helping organizations connect impact and financial sustainability by creating practical financial tools, connecting financial analysis to strategic decision-making, and developing financial leadership. We understand what it takes, and we can support you by:
Presenting the complex in a practical way;
Modeling potential financial scenarios to support strategic decision-making;
Developing financial leadership by working with you to consider how you use and share financial information.
Strategic Partnerships and Mergers
While financial analysis and planning is vital, we also understand that the survival of the ecosystem depends on the solidarity of the sector. As we talked about in our second Meeting the Moment newsletter, we view strategic partnerships as one pathway to preserving vital community infrastructure. At Tangelo Tree, we’re experienced at helping nonprofits navigate partnership development in a way that centers impact and organizational values. Tangelo Tree’s approach to partnership development centers three key components:
Set a clear vision for what can be achieved through a potential new partnership;
Bring together board and staff from all parties to give thorough, practical consideration to the opportunity;
Provide clear and consistent documentation of agreements and outstanding topics so that everyone remains on the same page.
As always, we’re so grateful for the opportunity to pursue this essential work alongside nonprofits who inspire us to bring enthusiasm and joy to the fight against hatred and bigotry. If any of the pathways that Tangelo Tree offers feel like they may be right for your organization, please reach out to us. We are happy to discuss how to best support you. We’re humbled to support the critical work of nonprofits and proud of our field’s impact on our communities, and we hope that we can be a part of supporting this sector, and your organization, in the coming years.
We hope to hear from you soon, either directly, through our community building form, or at the upcoming EquaSpace event.
With optimism,
Tangelo Tree Consulting
